Lake Michigan P.O.W.E.R. Coalition Invites Area Residents to Discuss Concerns about Near-shore Wind Power Plants at Town-Hall Meeting Saturday, June 26

June 21, 20010—The Lake Michigan P.O.W.E.R. Coalition invites
Tri-Cities residents to discuss concerns about wind power plant development in Lake Michigan at a Town-Hall meeting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26.

The meeting will be held at the new Ferrysburg City Hall. Following a brief presentation on facts about the current proposal and alternatives to near-shore wind power plant development, the program will be open to conversation moderated by Jeff Stille, Ferrysburg mayor.

“We want to provide an opportunity for everyone to learn more about the proposal to build 50 square-mile wind power plants within miles of the Ottawa and Oceana county shorelines,” said Jeff Hodges, coalition board member. “There is much information to share beyond the sales presentations given over the past few months,” added Hodges.

The program will conclude by 11 a.m. The (new) Ferrysburg City Hall is located at 17290 Roosevelt Rd, Spring Lake, in the former Ferrysburg Elementary School.

The Lake Michigan P.O.W.E.R. Coalition is committed to protecting Lake Michigan, one of our state’s greatest natural resources. The Coalition is against any off-shore wind power plant proposals that could negatively impact Lake Michigan’s waters, shoreline ecosystem, regional economy, and quality of life. Through education, research, and public dialogue we will work with elected officials to protect Lake Michigan and our surrounding communities while encouraging safer, more efficient, clean energy solutions for Michigan’s future.
